Hi all, I'm in the long process of getting a Hackney licence. Doing theory test shortly. However although all the answers should be there I can't find the answer to these legal questions, can anyone help? If a journey finishes outside the licence boundary what do you charge? How can a licensed Hackney Carriage driver illegally ply for hire A passenger when asked for payment requests a receipt. Are you obliged to supply one? What action should a Hackney Carriage driver take if the meter seal is broken What must all HC's have to assist disabled passengers There are more but I can guess most of the answers Thanks in advance |

What you like as long as you agree that price at the time of hiring, else the metered rate. |

Outside of his district, and parked in a street, waiting, but not on a rank. Although both could also be viewed as touting. |

If your bylaws say so then yes. |

Get it resealed before you use it again, is the right answer. Get it sealed ASAP is the real answer.

If your area is 100% wheelchair taxis then your ramps are a must. Else a caring nature with bundles of good intentions and common sense. |

Thanks Sussex, much appreciated. Q about fare to area outside licence area. Someone told me you have to do it on distance e.g. taxi assoc book etc. Is right then you just put the whole lot on the metre if nothing else is agreed. Q i suppose its norm that all Hackneys issue receipts? Thanks again |

The act says you must use your meter unless you agree a price at the time of hiring. It doesn't say what that price should be i.e. more than the metered rate or less than the metered rate. |
