my car is due for a council retest in a couple of days. I run a toyota avensis t reg and keep it tip top condition at all times, now as its been six months since last tested, what type of things will they go through, and if it fails the retest, how soon can i get it tested again. All the things that should be in working order are,,lights, no broken parts, seat belts, brakes, etc,,i was going to put the car through a normal mot to see if it passes ok and just maybe tweak it a little,,emissions etc,,any advice greatly appreciated.

You should not have anything to worry about on a T reg Toyota. i would have thought they go thorough the same stuff at the last test.

i had a spot check at the test centre last week on my R reg 200K mile mondeo and the only thing they picked up was head light beam alinement a bit low and they said my front bumper seemed loose (dunno how they worked that out its never been off). done me a favour really cos its due for re-plating the end of this month and that saved me paying for a pre-MOT test. but i'll give it a service and change the brake pads anyway as its due for both.

if your council is anything like mine, its not the MOT test thats the problem its the appointment you need to make to get a new plate issued sometimes 2 weeks lead time.

have a look at parkers to see if there are any known problems that may need looking at. http://www.parkers.co.uk/

Any problems with that, then just whip out the air filter for the test.
