As many of you may have noticed, I try to be very reasonable when discussing the activitities of our rulers in the ivory tower up the High Street; Some may say excessively so.

On Friday, a number saw an unplated car with a roof sign and reported it. Yesterday, I reported the same vehicle, having observed it picking up at the station, this time without a roof sign. Today, I saw it again, with roof sign, no plate. I spoke to the enforcement officer. She told me that as it was unlicensed, It's out of her jurisdiction and I should call the police. I did.

An hour later, he was ranked on the station, with a plate!!!!

1. Why the f*ck didn't she tell me he had a plate, rather than wasting my time and police time?

2. If he was illegally plying on Friday, which he must have been, why was he issued the plate on Tuesday? Surely, by now we're into the question of 'fit and proper.'

Whilst writing this, it occurs to me that my first sighting today may have been for his meter check. Even more galling!!

Old council monkey trick....see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil,.. saves on paperwork and gets one home earlier from the council offices...

Indeed, but please don't stop reporting what you believe to be wrong.

Better to be right once, and wrong dozens of times, than allow unlicensed vehicles and drivers to get away with it.

I think my gripe is that I, and others, put a lot of effort into this when, all along, the council were processing his plate.

I know it's wrong, but if I'd have been told at 2.00 that he had a plate inspection at 3.00, for instance, I may have taken a slightly different view. I don't know why, but let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

But a stream of continual reports over a number of days and the council say 'thanks, we'll get on to it' then 'it's a police matter' when all the time they had the paperwork and were processing the application strikes me as misfeasance if not malfeasance.

Sorry, I'm pi$$ed, rant over.

Please continue to comment.
