Has anyone come across any inclination by any LA to promote the use of "green" vehicles?

(i.e. electric, hybrids, dual fuel)

Id consider a prius but the only ones I could afford/justify are 1500cc and my LA R&R stating 1600cc is the minimum egine size plateable

a free plate should be a nice enticement i think... "EF-PH 1"

If no LA has any "green" promo for HC or PH then it just shows thier true feelings...

I would contact your licensing chair, and ask for the rules to be bent.

We have two Prius' licensed in the borough; One HC, one PHV. I haven't yet spoken to either driver to get their opinion but the PHV has been on the road for about 2-3 years and still appears to be OK. I want a little more history behing them yet, particularly with regard to battery life and replacement costs.

A number of vehicles have LPG, in fact I used to be one of them but a change of vehicle brought me back to diesel. If I have another opportunity, I will certainly go back to LPG.

A move to a smaller LPG vehicle would be beneficial to me as my school run will soon be just the 1 lad - for maybe 3 years, a 40mpg average on half price gas could save me a fortune...

Yes.....an age policy that gets rid of all those smelly old vehicles that belch out cardiogenic fumes killing children and small family pets.

You'll find your consumption is worse but lower cost compensates. Overall savings should be 25-30%.

Google 'LPG forum' for more info. There is one but I've lost the address at the mo.

A set of 215/55H16 Michelin Pilot Tyres can play havoc with certain small family pets too...but it wont stop me from using them..

i dont think costs would rise if i went to LPG, and at the same time downsized

LPG is 50p/ltr? and id expect 45mpg at least (extra urban 90% of the time) so "equivalent" 80 mpg compared to petrol/derv (which are same price round here - ish)

Not quite right. Because the calorific value of LPG is lower than petrol, you need to pump more in to get the same work out.

My 1.8 Mondeo gave me 30-32 mpg on petrol but only 22-24 mpg on LPG. It was still worth it though.

Bunker site i pass everyday/twice a day has CNG at 27p+vat a ltr... now that WOULD be a saving...

not many convert though
