IF A BRAND NEW Act of Parliament governing Hackney Carriage and Private Hire legislation received the Royal Assent and became Statute Law in the not too distant future; 1. Which ONE item, relating to Hackney Carriage legislation, would you like to see included in the new Act that is not already in the existing legislation? 2. Which ONE item, relating to Private Hire legislation, would you like to see included in the new Act that is not already in the existing legislation? 3. Which ONE item would you like to see abolished from existing Hackney Carriage legislation by the new Act? 4. Which ONE item would you like to see abolished from existing Private Hire legislation by the new Act? |

I'd like to see something that makes PH companies prove they at least have work for the drivers they take money from via settle. |

I did once use a shocked expression when Jasbar said how much his rent was. I don't suppose that counts  Apart from which I thought I'd leave it to the superior minds, like yourself, to come up with things for the HC trade. I'm always on my best behaviour in the licensing & legal section

You can't have restricted numbers without inflated rentals. Shocked expressions are easy. Do you really mean abolish Section 16, or do you mean abolish Section 16 & replace it with total de-limitation? Because if you just abolished Section 16, full stop, you would be back to the days prior to the Transport Act 1985, with licensing authorities empowered to limit HC numbers. Is that what you really mean? |

Scrap all the laws as they stand and only have WAVs and saloons with the larger company's having to provide a WAV for every 3 saloons they have, that would take care of any WAV provision No limit on plates as numbers will find there own level over time, All licence fees set by VOSA |

the current two tier system swept away only 1 plate type any vehicle can take a flagdown rank-plates and non-rank plates instead of HC and PH, rank-plates only for WAVs and a maximum of twice the number of rank spaces 1st plate age maximum 3 years maximum vehicle age 15 years rank plates 10 non-rank maximum seating 12 passengers colour code rank cars - black, non-rank - white all to have meters all to have rooflights 1 national meter rate VOSA to test vehicles and issue plates Police to process CRB and issue badges GP medicals |
