Please remind drivers that if you have categories C, C1, C1E, D1 or D1E on the back of your driving licence and wish to keep them, then you will need to have done thirty five hours' Certificate for Professional Competency training by September 2014.

All drivers of minibuses (9-16 seats) are also required to pass a DSA D1 driving test if driving is anything other than voluntary (this includes PAYE workers). Larger buses and coaches require a full D Licence

"If you do not undergo CPC training then DVLA will remove these categories from your licence, and this will mean that you cannot drive any vehicle or vehicle and trailer combination exceeding 3.5 tons, so you should do the training if your vehicle or combination exceed 3.5 tons or if you are receiving any kind of remuneration including prize money and sponsorship."

"We have had many calls from racers saying that they have spoken to VOSA, and that they don't need to do CPC training. You do need to do it! When speaking to VOSA enforcement officers you need to tell them that you are PAYE (paid), recieve fares or are sponsored and/or that you may win prize money, this means "Hire or Reward".

"CPC training is classroom-based and does not involve passing or failing - you have to be able to prove that you have done the training. After you have completed thirty five hours' CPC training you receive a card from the DVLA confirming that you have done it, and an official record is made on the DVLA

You will need to point me to the bit that states this Skippy because I can't find it. Under aquired rights it still says that you have to do the periodic training and for bus and coach drivers is says that this must be done before 9 september 2013.

What a pointless Exercise...........Like me you may have paid big bucks to learn to drive a Minibus to test standards, then sit and pass your D1 licence and are now told its no use unless you sit a CPC training course which you cant fail even if your as thick as pig Sh*t....

Feck me..is that the kind of logic that put the "Great" in Great Britain??? ](*,)

no but its a bloody good earner for someone

consider me, i have D1+C1 on my licence

but the D1 is "101" - i.e. voluntary work only, so to get paid i need to take a test (to drive what i can drive legally without pay), but how? cos if i OWN a 16+1 seater for "own use/family" i cant use it for the test! and i cant use anything with less than 9 passenger seats, and whatever i use must have L plates, BUT - its illegal for a qualified driver to drive with L plates showing..............

and dont forget I owned and drove Xlwb vans for years and drove 7.5t trucks for 15 years...............

im dizzy now.................

No sorry Skippy you have lost me again. Where on that page does it say that people who passed their test for a minibus are exempt from the 35 hours before 2013?

Spoke to Jim Shanks about this tonight he does LGV and PSV training, he said this new thing that's coming only applies to qualified drivers who have already passed the LGV and PSV just to keep them up to date with things
Those who passed there standard driving test before the 1st of Jan 1979 will not have to do this, and the same class of vehicles will still stand

I passed my D1 six years ago, long before this guff came into play..so why pass that test just be told Im qualified to drive a PSV up to 16 passenger seats and then turn around and tell me Im not considered good enough to drive after 2014...yet after 35 hours of mandatory lectures which I could sleep though if I so wished, absorb bugger all, and then be told Ive qualified to drive a PSV for another few years just for " Being there" and then being around a £1000 lighter....which i can do at present anyway for hire or reward......or as a Volunteer I could race around like a loony with 16 people behind me just on a car licence.....or hire a minibus possibly having driven nothing bigger than a reliant robin and take 16 people anywhere in the UK in a vehicle that is not even governed down to 60MPH like a minibus is..



Dear god..who thinks that Sh*te up, is it the EU???

Is it any wonder the rest of the Worlds leaving us behind....we are choking ourselves to death on red tape whilst the rest of the sane world just gets on with trying to better its lot...
