We all know how difficult the Knowledge of London is, but is it the most difficult taxi knowledge test in the world? Does anyone have any data on the subject? Is there any official data on the subject? Somehow I doubt it.

And I suppose it's got to be the most difficult knowledge test in the UK, but I wonder how the rest of the country compares in terms of difficulty. I suspect there's no kind of official or other data available on this at all.

I nominate the B&H knowledge test as the hardest PH test in the world.

In Birmingham the 'Knowledge Folder' contains 12 legal questions (but not the answers) of which you have to answer 6 of their choosing, and get 100% right or the test wouldn't proceed.

Then there are points of interest which they call two point locations, you need to know the road they are on and the next nearest road opposite or adjacent, there are 1680 of these and again, they don't give the answers, but if there are 2 places with similar names, they gave a rough Idea of location eg.

The Yenton Banqueting Suite (Sutton Coldfield).
The Yenton Pub (Erdington).

There are 342 routes to learn, again no answers, just a start and end point. work out the best route and memorise the entire journey.

Just one test, 20 of the routes and 80 of the points of interest, all chosen randomly from the list.

90% or over to pass.

Fail 3 times in 12 months and you are banned from taking it again for 12 months.

And the Brum PH Knowledge Test, brought in about 18 months ago is identical, except there are only 600ish routes and two-point locations in the syllabus.

There were about 6 HC reps, (your's truly being one of them) asked to take a verification (dummy) test just before it went live.

Sh*t it was hard.
