That when we are told there are more licensed PH in London than black cabs, all I ever see in London is rows and rows of black cabs, but only a handful of licensed PH?

Are they all hiding from me?

I would suggest you take the dark glasses off, or are we just a little bit more recognisable? 8)

Why is it...?

the fares that keep you waiting the longest are the ones going the shortest distance?

That the ones just going up the roada few hundred yards think they are doing you a favour by letting you get back quickly for your next fare.

And you've just waited an hour for a £2 run :-s

Why is it?

That some phone girls tell punters that their car will be 5 minutes when it's going to be at least 30, and 30 minutes when it's going to be only 5? ](*,)

More times than it shouldn't, the driver behind you on the rank will undercut the quote you have just given for a long job? [-X

Probably because they will ask what the driver in front has quoted and knock a bit off to get the run or the punters will ask if they will do it for a couple of quid less than the car in front.

But the first driver would probably have done it for the reduced price anyway but he wont quote his lowest fare in the hope that he will get it for his opening offer.
