Post subject:  Rank set fares
we have a probelm down here with an increasing number of drivers chargeing the earth for out of town work.
they have a little black book that works out at £3.00 a mile. :shock:
the council dont like it but as its not local work they say they cant do nothing about it.
so they have arranged with the operators to put the prices they charge on an advertisng board by the ranks.
so now when the greedy ones try to overcharge the customers can say no and get in mind and i will be happy to do it for the firms price.
but why are all the firms cahrgeing the same.
isnt that called a cartel? :?

Sounds suspiciously like it - but that's probably why the OFT gave out-of-town fares a wide body swerve in it's report - it's them three monkeys again :lol:

I just can't work out why some of the Brighton taxi trade want to fleece customers. :?

Surely it has nothing to do with the £45,000 plate premium. :shock:

We are not very good in our area for out of town quotes.

Instead of keeping together, the car behind you in most cases undercuts you. :sad:

Of course, if businesses that the taxi trade deals with act (or would like to act) in the way that the taxi trade itself does, then it's a different story :?
