A 1987 Metrocab? I'm not over surprised it costs you a fortune, you can buy a P reg for about £4K, if you put your name down now, in two years you could be the proud owner of a triple T , providing they don't go under again?

£1700? Yikes  I've never paid that much for the Nissan since I bought it.

You never know the E7 might be licensed soon?

My mate paid £800 for his first o/haul on a NEW TX11, I know lots of others who pat £1500+ for overhauls. Personally I feel £1700 is too much but I have been for quotes elsewhere & found prices to be comparable.

Why would I want to go & buy a P reg??? whats there benefit in a slightly newer taxi??. Besides..have you seen the price of TX11 parts :?:
I don't care how old mine is.....at the end of the day they all do the same job, & besides mine runs on LPG; & in my book they are SUPERIOR to poxy Diesel counterparts, cheaper to run, much much quieter, smoother, longer engine service intervals (12k+ for engine oil)& 145 bhp:wink:
You are welcome to test drive my LPG Taxi anytime then you can draw you're own conclusions.

I am going elsewhere for this years o/haul...perhaps you could recommend somewhere ???

cheers eze

How about a basic mechanic's course at your local college on your days off and do the overhaul yourself

My TX1 is up next Saturday, I'm looking at £700 for this years trip.

I think overhaul bills can be high for a lot of drivers as it seems to be the norm for people to save up all the 'mechanics' until its that time of the year.

I 'pay as you go' throughout the year, and to date have not had a bill above £800, and that was on my last cab, which was a 1990 Fairway, albeit a rather well kept example.

If your looking for an 'honest' garage, try C & S in Three Colts Lane, they're not the cheapest around, but i've found them to be one of the better garages i've used, the owner is trustworthy.

You get a TX loan cab as well for the duration of the overhaul.
