The car I intend to use is worth less than £500 and so I wouldn't be looking for fully comp insurance cover.

when i first started out i had 4 years no claims on my personal car insurance, however when i went to get PH insurance they told me it would not make much difference. they do the years no claims based on the years as a taxi/PH driver.
my first year i paid £2800
i just got a quote for £2100, but i did make a claim last year.
it seems the value of the car does not make much difference to PH insurance, most of what you pay is public liability. i found that out last year when i changed from a r reg mondeo worth about £1500 to a £11K volvo S80 and the insurance price only went up by £80.
