So how are they giving WAVs priority?

If they give a permit to any WAV that wants one, then presumably they'll have to cap saloons, in which case it'll be like as before.

Or are saloons being barred from the station?

Will this be front page news in Cab Trade News

the number of permits is going up to 350.
they (the operstors and unions) have worked out how many they need.
wavs :D will get one no matter what if they pay the money. thats good because the new plates will get one and not have to wait.
all cabs on the firms will also be offered.
all cabs that show the fares fair badge will also get one.
lastly the independants who charge theb earth for out of twon work and treat the station like there fiefdom will be allowed.

the biggest problem is that only 17 cars will be allowed to rank at any time. normally up to 30 cram into the station blockling everything. including the transport police. [-X

this will cause problems but if the idiots didnt act like idiots then their wouldnt have be the need for change.

as for the T&g that tried to keep me and my mates out. bo*****s

400X350 = 140K per anum.

No wonder taxibank and Medigen want a slice of the action.

Out of interest, what is the footfall of Brighton Station.

12500 is taxi fares I presume?

I was actually after the figure saying how many use the station itself over a period of time.

12500 divided 6.5 (days in week, Sunday being the .5) means 1923 jobs a day.

Just under 5 jobs per day.

So on average each car will get 1200 fares a year.

That means you pay 33pence per fare. Sounds high, but then if each fare averages £10 you are earning £12,000 per year.

Now which business wouldn't pay £400 for an advert that guaranteed them 12k in business.

that 33p a job soon if all 350 take permits.
at the moment there are only about 250 cars with permitsd and they are about £250 a year.
now if you go by your workings now its 50 jobs a week.
even if you go 48 weeks a year means 2400.
divide by 250 = 10p a job.
so really your fees should be paid by the tip even on the shortest of jobs.

the firms are issuintg them but the council has approved it.
the council cant insist drivers do the work for the rate. which is the metetred rate not a silly discount one.
the prices to many of the twons/places will be up on a board like the bus timetables.
