Does anyone know if a TAXI licensed in one area can rent a radio from a licensed PRIVATE HIRE operator in another area and accept bookings and do those jobs legally

![]() As taxis and their licensed drivers don't need a license to operate, then it should be ok. Clearly his fares will be different, and his local knowledge wont be a good, but as far as the law is concerned a licensed taxi driver driving a licensed taxi can take bookings from anyone. The fact that he is taking bookings from a licensed PH firm, in another manor, is neither here no there.

This is purely hypothetical, the work this TAXI from another area is doing is only PRIVATE HIRE and should not affect the local h/c boys at all. If all these private hire cars went and licensed themselves as taxis in a cheaper area with no age limit on the cars bingo all the world in taxis no worries about dereg

![]() This is what's causing a kerfuffle in Chichester.
The HC lads there need to license TXs, whilst the lads in neighbouring Arun can license Skodas. So what's happening is the lads from Arun are ranking (on private land) outside the biggest night clubs, and kopping the work that really should be going to the local lads. What's that about 'the workers united'?
