our council has decided to charge £31 to transfer a plate. PH and taxi.
they have never charged it before. but have decided without consultation to charge it.
does anyone know if they can and what act can they charge it from.

our council has decided to charge £31 to transfer a plate. PH and taxi. they have never charged it before. but have decided without consultation to charge it.

Our council charges about the same to transfer plate, it was only last year the council tried it on to charge a plate transfer fee of around 800 quid due from the seller of the plate, but that was soon put to bed as the council legal beagle decided it would be challenged in court, a bit to much for admin charges, I think the council was thinking they were like estate agents |

my mate the PH man has just had a e-mail from the council saying they shouldnt have charged it. and they are going to repay the money to all concerned.
so much for them saying they are going to cahrge it just because other local councils do.
