I love a good read of the LTDA comic, but the picture in this article did make I laugh.

Nice to see you read a 'real' Taxi rag Ollie.

I'm not sure why it makes you laugh though? To me it just shows, once again, the underhand methods being tried out by an increasingly desperate Minicab trade, which just heightens peoples distrust of your trade. :?

Strange fellow. :?

Well I won't disagree with the assertion in the article that the prices aren't genuine, but, out of interest, what would be the taxi fare for the destinations advertised?

From the particular location shown in the picture, ie: Brompton Road

Heathrow, about £44

Gatwick, about £80

Stanstead, about £85.

Obviously, I'd give you a discount Dusty.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a big 'dust up' at the ranks if people are standing about with signs like that?

I believe words were said, something about looking stupid with a sign sticking out of his arse.

Then again, like his employers, he probably could'nt understand the language of the country he's come to sponge of.

Thank goodness the free market is alive and well in London. =D>

Now customers have the choice whether to pay over the odds for a licensed taxi, or pay the (cheaper) going rate for a London private hire.

i dont really have a problem with most proper ph operators
but ollie tell me you aint one of this mob thier just lying touts.
noticed today in edinburgh that a telephone box next to one of the busiest city centre ranks had a rather large advert offering 30% discount on youre taxi fare, they then quoted prices to the airport from £6 - £16
well depending where you pick up in edinburgh say the gyle to airport
avarage price in taxi dayshift £6
portobello which is in the east of the city (airports in the west by the way)
dayshift £19
small print also had a disclaimer on it saying you may be charged more etc
these people are thieving lying ****

Well that answered the posts above then, did'nt it?

Apart from when your touting, have you ever had a debate about anything?

I thought so.

I must point out Ollie, no matter how much you read the 'Taxi' newspaper, it won't bring you any closer to a membership.

Try the 'Taxee Boss?' newspaper, available from all dodgy backstreet Minicab offices and stairwells.

The new 'Totem poles' they are placing at Taxi ranks now have that in London, it gives the estimated distances / costs through the different meter tariffs.

Theres even an illumination button for nightime perusal.
