I want to become a hackney driver. I am 31 now but was convicted of drink driving when I was 21. I have had a celan licence since.

This is something which I am still ashamed about now but should it effect my eligibility to obtain a Badge in Glasgow?.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Each LA deals with these things differently, but I suspect many would disregard a 10-year-old DD by a then 21-year-old.

You should give your council's licensing department a quick call - they should be able to give you a good idea.

Through here a DD would constitute a heinous crime against society, you can guarantee if you applied for a licence in Edinburgh the Chief Constable would object.

“Not a fit and proper person”

Ten years would not matter a jot they would still drag you in for an arse kissing contest. What this basically means is you have to stand in the city chambers and kiss every councillor on the arse one by one to get your licence. As long as you appear totally subservient to our Lord’s and Masters you would have no problem.

Don’t know what it’s like in weggie land but I would be surprised if it was any different

Under the rehabilitation of offenders act you should find this is a spent conviction and the council or police would have no objection to your application in glasgow. Ditto in Edinburgh.
As for "arse licking", is it any wonder you guys have so many problems with the council, to many afternoons spent with the "rat" up on the hill garry

And your real name is?

Too hard a question, don’t tell me your one of the brain dead from the Cannon Mills Service station who has to hide behind a pseudonym to make a point “not”?

What a pathetic bunch you are, is it any wonder the council treat you with the contempt you deserve, a bit like me.

Come on then I can’t wait to hear what clever well thought out points you have to make.

I await your response with bated breath?

Next time you read the RoO Act I suggest you read the bit which says taxi and PH aren't exempt no more. Image

quite sure that iam not paranoid Sirius i have been sitting waiting for a job before with a black hack sitting behind me and have been asked by a punter if iam for hire and i have said "sorry cant pick up of the street ask the boy behind me he has his for hire light on he will take you" and the idiot has told them to go away as he is watching to see what iam up to now thats very very sad and does the black hacks no favs wth the puplic who just want to get from A to B.
i could go on for ages with some of the stuff that goes on. most of the hacks are ok i would say 90% but its that 10% that just act like idiots and i have had a few passangers who have said that thats the main reason they now use PH so thanks to the 10% a idiots keep the good work up and my wife will soon have that nice new kitchen

i just dont pickup of the street its not worth it as i get enough work through the radio.

If you can't get licensed there, then you should go for a license to drive London black cabs.

They aren't as picky as they were. I mean just ask Mr GBC.

No, they let ex minicab drivers onto the Knowledge now.

Still at least you remain, as ever, a taxee driver, opposed to a real London cabbie.

Do you tell your neighbours what you do? or are you a little embarrased?
