i would like to clarify a few points.
I run the crazy fire company in glasgow , like me , love me , hate me , don't care.

My vehicles are not 25 years old, most are just out of service and well mentained, properly insured , taxed , moted , blue lights removed , fully seat belted.

I would love to be licensed , but Mr marcus parham at renfrewshire council is not interested , and does not no the law , we have plenty of video evidence you would love to get your hands on , if u want it u can have it after our civil case ,he should be fired along with mr roy hadden.

The police charged us on a licensing issue , not to put a system in place as the councils were asked 2 years ago and again on the 6th april , and you see mid november and no systems in place.

The reason was to put us off the road as their work mates run a similar company as we were their main competition, thus is why we have a civil case for £350,000. against the chief constable and renfrewshire council.

Again stress ,i would love to be licensed and asked , and asked and been told lie upon lie.(have the tapes)

The licensing police at mill street dont even no the law ( again have the tapes)at present the way it stands belive it or not as strathclyde police have isseud a letter .
NO OPERATOR WILL NOW BE CHARGED INTILL A LICENSING SYSTEM IS IN PLACE , so yes means private hire cars can pick up off the street and renfrewshire cabs can work in glasgow city centre as the whole system has been brought down - why are you paying for a plate then the police say it is illegal , but no one else will be charged intill the councils get their act together..... rebel do not pay it , remove your plate.

Also how can renfrewshire council issue drinks licenses to limo operors with no plates.
Glasgow city council issue entertainment licences for lap dancers in limos when not plated.

limos carrying 20 passengers is not illegal as no law stands as cannot get a psv certificate or plated from a council.

School contracts using private cars with no badge and no real checks , council say workers working for them are privilaged , bull [edited by admin]

HOPEFULY OUR CIVIL CASE WILL SORT THIS WHOLE MESS OUT , AS THE POLICE DROPPED THE CHARGES ON US AS WE PUT UP A FIGHT AND QUESTIONED THEIR OWN STAFF RUNNING SIMILAR COMPANIES AND NEVER LEFT THE OFFICERS NOTE BOOK AND WERE ONLY TO TRYING TO SCARE US.

Yes, it's a mess.

But I think the essential point is that if councils can legally stipulate that a car cannot be licensed if it is the wrong colour or the wrong age or the back seat is not wide enough, then it might be considered reasonable that a fire engine can't be licensed.

The point im making is we we charged to put us off the road to further the police employes business.

To license fire engines , ambulances a new bill will have to be added onto the civic goverment scotland act by parliment AS AT PRESENT DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE COUNCILS REMIT.

As said from day one would like to be licensed , as a company that is vat registered , how many out their can say that and regulate drivers hours.

My war is not with u taxi drivers , so Maybe if you watch our case closley u will learn a lot and will help u in the long run.

Anything u want us to look into, ie no viewing area at renfrewshire testing station/toilet facilities ect , qualifications of examiners ,ect. Now is your chance, Roy Hadden assaulting a taxi driver and no charges brought.

Senior Traffic Police not been able to recognise a renfrewshire badge, not knowing the difference between a taxi badge and a private hire badge very safe ah.(all on video)

marcus parham saying you can work anyplace with a renfrewshire badge , ie edinburgh local trips(all on tape).

not too keen on the police i must admit, neither clued up on this particular story. Although ive seen the crazy fire engine out and about.
One particular advice on the police though, even though a little ofF topic.
I had one young police officer and police woman , few weeks back who charged me for double parking on SAUCHIEHALL STREET while DROPPING OFF MY HIRE. I contested the charge and both the officers involved were ridiculed over doing this. I always felt we were paying the local council (glasgow) to act as private hire drivers and i believe dropping hires off is part of acting as private hire drivers. So good result there. I see this little asswipe practically every weekend and i bet he cant handle it lol,tries to give me dirty looks, maybe ill report him for intimidation.
All i really want to say is dont assume police officers know there job, they dont. 50 percent of their job is ``ego`` and they may or may not get the other 50 percent right. Never assume they r right, always check and double check. We pay their scummy wages and have every right to question them in all aspects of their conduct. Dont forget,,cheers.

Very interesting, can you please keep us informed of when the case goes to court? I have the CGSA in front of me right now but I'm not going to delve through it again because it has taken up quite a lot of my time already. I would just like to say that in the absence of any licensing legislation for limousines and novelty type vehicles carrying passengers for hire and reward, it does not mean a vehicle of such type is within the law to do so? I'm afraid it is against the law for you or anyone else to carry paying passengers, or even passengers that are indirectly afforded some sort of financial inducement from the person carrying such passengers.

I hope you get justice in court. You probably know the law is being changed to accommodate such vehicles under a special license, so it's a case of not if, but when?

I will say having read your posts on this site I agree that it looks as though you have been a victim of both Strathclyde Police & Renfrewshire Council incompetence espcially as you point out you want to be licensed !

I do not understand why your company was targeted in this way when a quick glance through the Yellow Pages informs us of numerous firms here in Renfrewshire & pages and pages of them operating within Glasgow City Council's area. Indeed there is a Fire Limo service operating down in Ayrshire that was set up with the help of Scottish Enterprise !

You have mentioned the incompetence of Renfrewshire Council & perhaps it is hard for any who lives outside our area to comprehend just how bad things are here

I too know of someone who contacted the Council's Licensing Dept. about two years ago with a view to setting up a limo company & was told that a licence was not required at the moment. They also mentioned it might change in the future following the Civic Government Act review.

Remember this is the licensing team that had to issue four taxi plates because when the wanted to defer the decision they wrote 'Taxi DRIVER ' instead of 'Taxi OPERATOR' on the forms that the Sherriff Court approved

This is also the team that has a taxi enforcer who gives drivers warnings for eating in their vehicles even when they have no passengers ??!!

Drivers have been given warnings for not wearing ties, the correct colour of shirt & the wrong colour of shoes ??!!

This is the Council that has a policy of no vehicles over the age of five but is quite happy for Council school transport contracts to be issued to companies that use 15/20 year old buses that have been round the world more times than the Space Shutttle

Surely if age is such a factor in vehicle safety vunerable school children should be offered the same protection ?

I has now been something like 6 months since the Council were asked to come up with a scheme to get limousines licensed & we are still waiting. Aberdeen, Dundee & Edinburgh have all managed it with ease, so whats the problem here ? (Could it be their age policy ?)

When it comes to 'unlicensed operators' what about the numerous so-called Chauffeur service that operate here in Renfrewshire & Glasgow (just look at the Yellow Pages again). Surely they should be targeted in some way, after all what is the difference between private hire & Chauffeur ? The only one I can see is Chauffeurs wear suits ??!! Indeed one of these companies is based at Glasgow Airport (Renfrewshire Council area) actually in the Terminal so why hasn't Mr Hadden visited them ? They use saloon cars & people carriers

What a mess !

The sooner the whole licensing team is replaced the better
