I spent some happy days in a little place called Couper Angus in my youth, not too far from Dundee. I even mastered the art of Berry picking. you have no chance on the berry fields mucker the polish students are out in force, the farmers have worked out how desperate they are and are cleaning up,there is a place called omachie farm (every dundee poster on this site will know it) they have converted a few outhouses into student accomodation complete with washing lines, its advertised in the city center but what is not mentioned is that its right next to a massive pig farm, the stench first hits you at 500 yards at 250 you start looking at your soles of your shoes by 100 you think maybe ill no job this, how they can live here i dont know but it is worth a tenner to cabbies who will pick them up,(ive done 16 jobs and only bought eight air freshners) if you do come to dundee why not try buying one of the hack plates? there is a meeting tonight with both the dta and the tgwu regarding making all hack plates corporate so they can sell them, this is pixxing off all the new plates who must now invest at least 23000 to do the 10 or so wheelchair jobs a year, i can sense some sherrif courts getting involved here its a pity the dta think differently? |

When I informed my La about the recomendations they told me that they are only recomendations and nothing else. So whats the point |

Sorry what are recomendations? If it's the 1982 Act, then they have to adhere to that whether or not they like it. If it's the council policy, then challenge it. Just write a letter to the council applying for 10 taxi plates. See what they say, and maybe we can help you through the mine-field.

I intend to but will have to wait until the survey is carried out. They will have no excuse then to delay util a survey is fixed like the Edinburgh one. |

I think you will find it easier to apply before a survey is carried out, unless they are doing one within the next six months or so.

Well then that's going to take more than 56 days. 
The tender process will take more than a month, and even if they start the survey the next day (highly un-likely) that's going to take many weeks. Unless it's Jacobs who normally take just over the hour. Then the thing has to go out to consultation with interested parties (unless it's Keilder Newport West, who will just make it up). That should take at least another couple of weeks. Then a report to councillors will have to be done, again, depending on the committee timetable, could be up to 6-8 weeks. And then it may have to go from the licensing committee to the Cabinet/Executive to be confirmed. All in all I doubt all that could be done within six months.
Please keep us up-to-date as to who gets the date nearer, the council's 56 days or my six months. |

Unless it's Jacobs who normally take just over the hour. When Trafford were asked, "when did they propose to tender for their survey" they said "they didn't need to tender". I was surprised at that because a certain council who harboured similar thoughts had to back track several months later which ultimately cost them a precious six months. I hope Trafford don't fall into the same trap otherwise their survey might not be completed until the summer. Regards JD |
