Plying for hire by large public service vehicles.

A public service vehicle which is adapted to carry more than eight passengers must not be used on a road in plying for hire as a whole. If a vehicle is used in contravention4 of this provision, the operator of the vehicle is liable on summary conviction to a fine.

The Transport Act 2000 ss 108–113 provide a statutory basis for local transport plans and bus strategies in England and Wales outside London: see further para 871A post.
