The base has granted a local woman an account as she never likes to carry cash (old dear), no problem paying the monthly invoice but..............she said "I have to pay the VAT............"

Of course the base - being vat registered - is applying vat but ontop of the fare...

is that legal? shouldnt the fare be vat inclusive?

i told her to pay the fare by card

If the base are taking a % then they should charge VAT, if not then the base should really charge the metered rate, especially on hackneys.

Fare is £6.50

shes paying £6.50+vat

i rent the pda

told her to ask about paying by card
