Post subject:  glasgow temporary 6 week private hire car license

My private hire car license expired fri midnight. Earlier that day my car was in for inspection which it passed ok , however i over looked the expiry date of the car license, and not being told of this either by the inspection centre on the day, missed the deadline to renew. Problem i have now is that the renewal costs over 250 quid and having spent a lot of money on the car pre inspection, including insurance i have nowt left over for the full 2 year license renewal. What id like to know is will glagow city council be able to issue a temporary 6 week license / permit to allow me to legaly drive a private hire car. Im not sure under what circumstances they would issue a temp license but all i need really is a week or so , if i cant get out to work i cant pay for the license. Catch 22 and it sucks ok. Maybe if they sent in a reminder few weeks prior to expiry i may never have spent a fortune on the motor. Didnt really need it but just keping it up to date thats all. Problem is im now broke lol. Any advice most welcome,,cheers.

yeh im sure you would, Those w*****S show no one goodwill. I was refused my renewal today and had to re apply as a new license. Because i missed the
deadline by one day. Got confused as i thought my fridays inspection WAS part of the license renewal procedure. So one one hand i had my inspection, on the other, same day my car license expired. Council said could be 12 weeks by the time my license comes through,,ouch. I paid 149 quid for temporary license so i may get this within a week, time will tell.

aberdeen send out reminders a month or two before deadline but it's really upto the individual to remember on time!
still a bit of a bummer though!
