REFUNDS.
National guidelines show that the Councilshould only give refunds in respect of applications cancelled BEFORE licences are issued. Not to operate within these guidelines means that annual budgeting is very imprecise (last year over £10,000 refunds were given). This money, through budgeting, could be better used (for example on enforcement).
At present Warrington is "out of step" with our neighbouring Local Authorities and therefore refunds will not be applicable after 31st May 2006.

I thought the best national guideline was Vehicle road tax license! exactly the same but only applicable for taxi/PH. Refund every full Month remaining!

What does your local LA do??

Has this been consulted on? Have councillors agreed to this?

Most of the councils down here don't give refunds. I sort of understand cos they have there costs and licenses are for a year.

If drivers don't last the year, then it's not really the councils fault. But I do get the hump if officials have decided this behind closed doors amongst themselves.

Quite true, but it's also a good thing for the Warrington LOs that I don't work there.
