| Post subject: | Another PH myth !!! |
In February's edition of 'Call Sign' magazine, one of Dial a Cab's hierarchy said this about the Private Hire Industry; The tragedy is that the Private Hire industry has no such problem. However big, however many drivers a PH company has, when the drivers are told to do something, wear something or act in a particular manner, it will be done because they are employees and controlled by a general manager who dictates policy. All I ask is how many PH drivers are employed by the circuits? I would say nationally it's less than 10%, and perhaps a little more within the M25. But 100%, I don't think so.

Well that's the bit that surprised me.
The chap was the marketing fellow, so you would have thought he would know the inns and outs of the competition.

Andy7, you are far too soft. You need to take a few lessons off Tom.

Hey leave me out of this. Apart from getting them to turn up when told, wear a suit, collar and tie, not smoke in the car, go home at an appropiate time it is fine. When it comes to not smashing up cars, eating kebabs whilst driving and handing in all the money it is impossible
There are plusses and minuses about all ways of operating. But it is Horses for courses. Interesting that this guy is the Marketing man and what he is trying to achieve is what the corporate customers are looking for. So it fits his objectives. |

Laudible aims, what he is trying to achieve. But, states it as though he believes it to be true. I would just point out for Uncle Suss, that all our drivers (employed or otherwise) are Hackney Drivers or PSV. We don't have any PH only drivers. I wonder how that figures in his view? |
