Does a HC/PH need a PR Licence to play radio in car whilst passengers are onboard? |

I would say yes. The Penso Vito taxis don’t have the rear speakers connected for this reason. If (that old chestnut again!) we are considered public transport, which we are, the following applies } “When do I need a licence for music to be played in my business? When you buy and download music, then you are actually purchasing a licence for personal use in a non-commercial environment. This means if your employees listen to their own downloaded music on their headphones in your offices, but the music is not broadcast or played in public, then you, as a business owner, do not need a licence. However, it is illegal to play music to your employees or the public in a commercial environment (office premises or a shop, for example), whether it’s via a phone system, radio, disc, TV or a Bluetooth speaker.” |

Ive been through all the PR tariffs on the PPL/PRS site and there is no mention of a Taxi PR Tariff option, there is a Buses and Coaches tariff but that's it......there is also one for Music in the Work place, but seeing as there are none my employees in my vehicle then I'm listening to it for personal pleasure and that does not require a PRs Licence. |
