Most councils seem to use white and yellow for taxi and PH plates, but some seem to use the white for taxis and yellow for PH while others are vice versa. Others still seem to use red/green plates or whatever. So what colours does your own LA use? Any unusual colours? Should the colour be consistent everywhere or is this a case of councils knowing best? This page from Ipswich council shows fairly typical white and yellow plates for HC and PH respectively: Link to Ipswich BC website |

I think a universal plate would make sense, which is why we don't have it.
Our PH plates are green and white, and our hackney plates are white and green.

Fife is yellow for taxis with black lettering, and white for PH with black lettering. Dundee is the same, and I think Angus may be as well, but the plates are a bit bigger than the Fife ones. Fife has licencee's name and number on PASSENGER door on taxis only, on PH there is nothing on the doors. I think Dundee has name on both doors on taxis and PH. |

Carlisle is naturally white for HC and white for PH. If you really make an effort and delimit properly you'll find you dont have any PH to worry about
