PMSL Brummie, I do like you, but you want too much

Are you going to send parking wardens out with pictures of how drivers should dress?

Obviously I go to work like I've going to a meeting, suited and booted

What about woman drivers??

IMO the dress cose stinks and no Council can implement one.

Drivers can be scruffy tvvats no matter what they are dressed in, jogging bottoms or shirt and tie if he's clean and his clothes are clean then there's no problem IMO.

Today I've been to work in a pair of £30 Adidas bottoms, a pair of £60 trainers, a £20 Tshirt with a £30 jumper over the top oh and a splash of Pacco Rabban 1 million aftershave @£45 a bottle what's wrong with all that?

If I went to work in a shirt and tie it would be, Primarni trousers £5, shirt £2, shoes £5 and a tie @ £1. Two washes later they are only good for cleaning the dashboard.[/b]

What about carpet the munchers that wear the trousers?? IMO all the drivers should dress up as women and drive around town.

Here we go; I'm going to preach holier than thou:

I wear smart trousers, shirt with logo and tie. I shower every morning followed by Lynx Anti-perspirant and body spray. My car is well maintained and clean with air freshener wafting through.

I am licensed as a hackney carriage so could sit on a rank looking as scruffy as one or two others; I don't!

I believe the public deserves a service. I frequently get comments from passengers about the state of the car and people will seek us out on the rank.

As a company, we forbid jeans, track suits, trainers, T-shirts, beany hats, etc. We require trousers, shirts with collars, 'proper' shoes. A tie is optional unless we're sent on a 'VIP' job. I wear a tie anyway.

It works. When drivers get used to it, they're happy enough. When customers seek us ot on the ranks.... 'Nuff said.

Costs? Asda/Tesco for a lot of it with the odd silk tie thrown in. You can still look smart for £30 or so. You can smell sweet for a lot less.

You can also do a lot of preaching from a beer barrel on a Tuesday night!!!!!!!

Arguments anyone?
