Its been while - since I last left a post but due to what has happened; thought it would be a good time to show myself again!

I too said this was coming!!!

Where was your insider information on that one "No Tips"?

From what I understand they are going to offer a full package - including help with the contracts.

So looks like with the limo show coming it should be a good thing for everyone.

Can't really see what's the big issue here. :?

Just cos someone's insured doesn't make what their doing legal, just makes them insured.

I would say that there are several thousand, possibly 100,000+, insurance polices for PH vehicles that say they are covered for public hiring.

In fact I'm looking at one now.

But I can assure the good folks on TDO that I'm not legally allowed to take the public off the street without a booking.

What these insurance policies will say is something along the lines of 'insured for such and such if legally permitted to'.

And the legally permitted bit is the one that will be the downfall of this scam.

You are in fact correct; there any many insurance policies that cover for “Private Hire”

However this new policy does not cover private hire; it is a self drive hire insurance policy; and the wording on the policy will cover self drive hire and not private hire.

Now; I do understand that there is another insurer/broker on the market who are claiming to offer “Self Drive” and you would be correct in thinking that this one does state “In connection with the policy holders business” This policy is in fact no good as it does not state self drive hire wording anywhere on the documents; and would be no good to anyway if caught by VOSA or the alike.

I can also confirm that the policy being issued by DCL; has been through many case scenarios and passed as being successful. As long as the company/insured operates correctly this policy will be more the adequate to help/enable the people who prefer larger vehicles to be on the road for the many people that enjoy using them.
