We all know that hire or reward insurance cover is a legal requirement for anyone carrying passengers for payment in the course of carrying on a business of hire or reward.

Every insurance policy has a clause excluding the use of vehicles for hire or reward excepting under those circumstances where hire or reward is undertaken in conformity with current legislation and in such case the terms will be defined according to the activity.

It therefore begs the question how many vehicles are currently illegally running around carrying passengers on the pretext of self drive hire without the required insurance?

I find it unfortunate that VOSA seem to take a lackadaisical attitude in prosecuting these limo operators for breach of insurance? We all know that anyone caught in the act of plying for hire or driving fare paying passengers without proper insurance are in most cases prosecuted but not it would seem limo drivers and operators.

Perhaps if these drivers where prosecuted on a regular basis they might demand that the industry cleans its act up?

Regards

JD

Can you prove that this actually happens? , maybe it does,nt happen and thats why VOSA dont prosecute , If no-one commits the offence then it is very difficult for VOSA to prosecute them and i dont think they,d win in this case.
