Badger brought up an interesting point about Airports when he said, Newcastle Airport allow hackney carriages from seven authorities to ply for hire. I was wondering what other Airports allowed hacks from other authorities to ply for hire?

I've listed all the Airports below if anyone knows the state of play at any of these Airports can you please advise us to the situation?

London: City · Gatwick · Heathrow · Luton · Stansted · Southend

England: Birmingham · Blackpool · Bournemouth · Bristol · Coventry · Doncaster-Sheffield · Durham Tees Valley · East Midlands · Exeter · Gloucestershire · Humberside · Leeds-Bradford · Liverpool · Manchester · Newcastle · Newquay · Norwich · Southampton · Land's End · Plymouth · St. Mary's · Brighton

Scotland: Aberdeen · Edinburgh · Glasgow International · Glasgow Prestwick · Inverness · Sumburgh · Barra · Benbecula · Campbeltown · Dundee · Eday · Fair Isle · Islay · Kirkwall · Lerwick · Oban · Scatsta · Stornoway · Tiree · Westray · Wick

Wales: Cardiff · Anglesey

Regards

JD

Aberdeen Airport is zoned separately to the city (both zones are Aberdeen City Council) Until recently BAA contract one firm to operate at the airport (Rainbow Airport Taxis). Their cabs have a separate coloured plate and cannot ply the city zone (and vice versa). This firm is the only one allowed to use the various ranks in the airport zone or ply for hire. They also run a "green light" system at the main terminal rank which, when switched on by Rainbow, allows city plated cabs to pick up. They do this when the volume of passengers waiting gets beyond a certain amount.

BAA have recently allowed Comcabs to open a booking office near the main terminal with a holding area for their city plated cabs and PH. Drivers have to pay £1.50 per lift to Comcabs, on top of their usual radio charges.

Gatwick allow only Crawley PH to ply. :D

Heathrow only allow green badged drivers to ply in a yellow badged area.

But don't Birmingham allow both Birmingham and Solihull cabs? :?

Rainbow Airport Taxis contract is up for renewal in February, so there may be more changes on the way.

Heathrow - London's finest only.

London City - London's finest yellows and greens.

London Stansted / Gatwick / Luton - If your quick, Londons finest :D

Quite why Airports in Luton, Bedfordshire, Stanstead in Essex or Gatwick should be allowed to call themselves 'London' has always puzzled me. They're not London.
