Post subject:  Tarrif 2

Is there any legal right for a council to remove tarrif two from the fare chart, lets just suppose acertain number of drivers have been caught on the wrong tarrif during the day and the council say right we will stop this by only allowing one compromised tarrif, at the moment we are 0n £2.00 tarrif 1 and £2.70 for tarrif 2. what would the position be if they introduced a single £2.50 tarrif in an attempt to satmp out the idiots who insist on robbing people during the day.

Just a guess but the council can set whatever maximum fare they like.

If all meters where time controlled like they should be, the tariffs would only come on at the appointed time, and only then.

As the lads above say a council can do what they like.

But calendar control meters are the norm everywhere, other than your manor it would appear. :?

Our meters have 4 rates for different times of day and different numbers of passengers and holidays. All manual selection.

You can still get them time controlled so there is no risk of overcharging

we have four rates too, T1 is day time T 2 is night rate T3 is race course fare to or from the racecourse which gives longer distance before the flag drop but starts at twice the T2 rate, T4is the fare and a half for Christmas which is what the multi seaters are using for 6 passengers now, their argument being "private hire charge fare and a half so we are going to do the same" hackneys cannot do that but you cannot get them to listen, if the council remove the christmas fare we will be back to the bad old days of pointing to the meter which displays £10 and trying to convince the punter that as its christmas eve we want £15 once again they will only have themselves to blame, YTA worked long and hard to convince the council to give this tarrif but the w,,kers of the world will have destroyed things yet again.

I still can't work out why your meters aren't calendar control. :?

Then the right rate comes up at the right time.

As long as you have a manually selected rate (e.g 5 or more passengers) you will always have some Delboy who will take the p*ss and fek it up for everyone

Unless, of course, it's Edinburgh.

And even on calendar meters, shyster drivers can still pile on the extras if they want?

even if your meter is calender control, there is nothing to stop you using/pressing the first button on a digitax f2 to engage t2 at any time of day

i think this is a York stn rank thing, make hay while the sun shines, cos some believe cos its a private rank they can do what they like and have been getting away with it for years
