One of my colleagues in York Station taxis has been before the disciplinary for charging fare and a half, he has admitted using tarrif 4 during the day, he says he is allowed to do this as he explained to the customer that as there was six of them he could charge fare and a half, only if they agreed or they could get two taxis and pay double. As it was going out of town the only fair way to reach the price was to use the meter on christmas tarrif(4) which is what he did, he says as it was an out of town job he was allowed to negotiate the fare, they let him off, but another driver who admitted using tarrif2 during the day has been banned from the sation for two weeks.

I'm guessing it's not the council doing the disciplinary, but the station folk.

And they can have whatever rules they like. :?

He should have fare and a half for 5 to 8 already, like the rest of the UK,
We have a £2.00 start for 1 to 4, and 0.10p a click, and a £3.00 and 015p a click for 5 to 8
looks like your being short changed,

But if its not on the tariff sheet the driver should be prosecuted for overcharging

Must admit that here in newcastle, the fare is the same regardless of how many passengers are in the cab........or how many seats the cab has,as we also have a mixed fleet.

mmmmm. York stn Taxis run a tight ship

any complaint can be made by a driver verbaly or in writing to a committee member within 7 days of the alleged offence

a complaint can only be passed onto to the City of York Council if members think fit and or if this complaint came from the public

any person REPORTED for overcharging, will be considered to have commited an offence

any person has the right to appeal against any decisions taken by the York Stn Taxi Officials/. Committee in regard to a punishment offence, must appeal in writing within 48 hrs

The appeal will be heard by the Judicial department of York Stn Taxis appointed by the shareholders
If the decision of the Officials/Shareholders of the Judicial panel is upheld then punishment maybe increased by the Judicial dept., and the punishment increased

I am also led to believe the offender cannot bring a legal advisor with him when he is on trial infront of Stn Taxi committee

Where in law do they have the right to decide on punishments? It may say something in their contracts but has anyone challenged this as an unfair term?
