I see they have now Developed cameras that can tell how many people are in a Vehicle, this is being tested as I Write in several areas, the Idea being to encourage Car sharing Schemes where cars with more than one person on board can use certain lanes with a view to easing congestion and allowing these Multi passenger Vehicles a quicker route from point A to Point B (no doubt it will end up single person cars ending paying some form of charge). the only Exception to who can use these lanes look likely to be Cars with more than one person on board , Coaches, Motorcycles and Bicycles. Worryingly i see no Mention of Taxis or Private Hire Vehicles being allowed in these lanes...So we good people who each move Thousands of People per year thus saving Countless individual car journeys and congestion not to mention saved emissions from those same trips are not going to be allowed Access to these Car share lanes unless we are carrying passengers even though we may be on route to collect Customers....Seems damned unfair to me, maybe we should look into this early and save powers at be the embarassment of over looking us in their master plan of saving the Planet... |

Did you see the news yesterday?? A copper on a motorbike was policing the car sharing lanes making sure no other car, vans, lorries used the lanes, nice to know they were enforcing the law. |

The only reason why some parts of the taxi/PH trade get ignored is because parts of the taxi/PH trade allow themselves to be blanked. I'm pretty sure that these lanes are just a gimmick that will pass in the wind, but if not then all sides of the trade both locally and nationally need to get their fingers out and gain us all 100% access. I have a feeling that my area will be responsive to local lobbying.
