A collegue of mine in Guildford has a tx2 financed through lti on a lease purchase agreement,he has recentley found that he is unable to drive for the forseeable due to ill health,on asking him if he had taken out any insurance against illness or loss of limbs etc he said he hadn't,so can his vehicle be returned to lti or smith & humphries bexhill where he purchased the vehicle with it being paid for upto date ?? ie:the remainder of his lease agreement being cancelled.. :?

If he has paid half or more of the agreement he can legally walk away, but if he has paid less than half he may be pursued for the remainder, it would be up to the finance company if they want to pursue it

The half should include any deposit that was paid.

I suggest he rings the leasing company and ask them if he can return it after two years. Or ring S&H and ask if they will take it back in leiu of them settling the balance.

But the best thing in his situation would be to return it to the leasing company if he is entitled to.
