Back to the topic.

Andy7, are you saying that apart from the address database, not a penny has been passed? :?

What equipment have you in the motors? Is it new, and will you need to change?

Yes, Andy Sussex. Not a penny has changed hands apart from the street database. We ordered a local street database which was right up to date as we have loads of new estates etc. We paid £400 for the street database, and have paid nothing else.

We already had a new HP network of computers etc, so did not need to buy them.

In the cars, we have High Band VHF, and a motley selection of odd gear from Pioneer AVIC2 SatNav at the top of the scale, down to to Tom Tom running on a PDA at the lower end.

When we go full GPS and data, and assuming we can get a high band frequency which DoT have said is likely, then we wont need to change anything apart from a few of the older radio sets that don't support data.

OOps, sorry. Not logged in. That was me above. Andy7. But you probably guessed that.

What I think is the most exciting of the Diplomat developments, is that they are developing what I can only describe as a multi-platform communications system, which, theretically will, if I am right, allow cross-talk between a whole range of items. A cab office is a communications centre, and if their stuff works, it will make the ultimate in comms centres.

Each owner driver or fleet car, can buy as much or as little of the gear as he/she wants, and the whole shebang will still work together.

Give all your special customers a dedicated, free, G3 mobile that discloses its location to the control centre and texts back when the car will arrive and what the fare will be etc etc etc.

Let the controller and telephonist just go to sleep (like they usually are). The whole shooting match can be made automatic.

Thanks for your candid evaluation Andy. :D
I would appreciate any criticisms of the manuals as we are currently updating and improving them.

How do we make our money?
Its simple we sell everything else including support contracts.
By giving this software away people evaluate and profit from it and it has not cost them a penny. They then have a base free to use product to develop their business on.

We then hope that most of the Navlite users will prosper and grow and eventually upgrade to NavPro which is not free.

As far as your premium rate phone call concerns:::
If you don't like the idea of a premium rate call then there is the option of a support contract.

It is only 6.73 a week.

That less than96p a day. Which would be about 45 seconds on the premium rate line.

You select the solution that best suits you.

PSssst. Keep the Maria thing down lads.. I am getting married soon...

For those who are adamant they can cope without one we also extend access to the support team through the medium of a premium rate number.

The other alternative is to become a reseller or a trainer and then you get it all for free anyway.

You select the solution that best suits you.

Well done Santa Clause!

Andy said one did not need a trainer?

must be a dead end job being a reseller and risky,? does this involve taking deposits, and if they do what if you go bust.........AGAIN?

Yes we take huge deposits Mr. Gueostfry.
As Mr. Navigator Lite says.
Its free and we demand payment up front In Full

Training
The only reason Andy says he did not need training is that he is more computer literate than some of the people that would like to use this product. Some of our less computer literate customers who have never used a PC based system need a bit of assistance and we are happy to offer it.

Reseller Trainer
Actually no risk being a reseller/Trainer.. You sort your fee out direct with the company you are working for. We make our money on reseller and end user training days. Do you want to come to one?
They are only £99 a person and we throw in Lunch a beer and a ride on steam train..

I have no idea what the deposit snipe is all about..
Is someone complaining they gave a deposit and it was not honoured or returned?
I think you are mixing us up with some other outfit I read about who is currently in the courts... Something about money back guarantees? This is certainly not us and we should not be confused with them in any way.
We are lucky, we just have to let the product do the talking..

Stewart
