So is the Diplomat we are talking about the same one as Diplomat Data Despatch Systems Ltd?

The ones registered in Midhurst Sussex?

If so and you have such good systems why are your accounts nearly eight months late at Companies House?

Just thought I would ask!

Sorry have not been on in the past few days to answer comments, but have been busy playing with my new toy(s). NavLite and someone I will never introduce any of you lot to.

I did not ever say I didn't need training, Uncle Sussex. You just assumed that because I am so brilliant. Truth is, I am one of those persons who gets really annoyed by being trained. Dive in feet first is my usual modus operandi.

I have never had a days "official" training in my life. I even used to bunk off school. (Guess what, I went to the same school as Peter!) Most of the string of letters after my name are either rude ones, or ones that have simply been given to me, presumably in order to fend off my actually going to the institution to get them.

Anyway. I have found NavLite so intuitive that I have not had any official training. I have also been told off for this by Peter. I keep mucking things up and then working out why. It's fun. It's called learning from one's mistakes. And, as I have made just about every mistake anyone can in life then I must be pretty damn clever.

The truth is, spend a few weeks learning the system, or probably be up to speed after training in less than a couple of days. How much is your time worth? Mine obviously aint worth a lot.

Second point (and sorry I was so long winded about the first), is to how Diplomat make money out of it. To me, now, the answer is simple. They do it exactly the same way as Microsoft. Same way as mobile phones.

Initial product free.

If product is "keepable" then they have a customer for as long as the customer stays with Diplomat.

And once you are set up and running with them, as you grow, you spend money.

I think Diplomat already know that if we (royal we) are happy with the system, then we will be spending five figures with them later this year, and then ongoing smaller amounts in a continuous revenue stream for perhaps the next ten or twenty years.

It's called marketing, and it's very clever marketing.

But, with anything like this, their risks are twofold. One, is that they have enough working capital and/or revenue, to support them until they have achieved a pre-dominant position in the market. Two, is that the product has the quality to take on the mantle of market leader.

I don't know, nor have I asked the first question. As I think it is answered within the second one. Ie. If you have the winning product, you can get Bank support.

It would be lovely in this world of ours if everything was sweet and nice. If no-one in business ever pulled any strokes. If a new business could develop without a bit of ducking and diving. Truth is, they can't. Unless they are already stinking rich. Business isn't like that anymore (not sure it ever was, as in the old days it was run entirely by the so-called upper class). It's a shame. But that's called reality.

But, Business has to work within the law.

Now, I presume that no-one has actually been prosecuted or charged with any offence. To me, this suggests that no-one has actually broken any laws?

So, that's business.

Maybe that's why I aint a businessman. But I am, I think, realistic?

Andy I find a couple of days is the length of time I remember what I learnt when being trained.

The stuff I learn for myself stays forever.

It took 'one of my women' about a month to do the street database, but that was back in 93 when things were not as configurable as now, apparently.

As for the way the system worked, a guy called Rob (great engineer) sat on the floor with a monitor and keyboard and just kept asking 'how do want to do this?' After about two hours we were away.

As for the network wiring, well we stopped 'Bodgejob' after 10 minutes and sent him away until and they sent 'Old Trundles'.

I don't think it's fair to accuse someone of being this that and the other, under the cloak of anon.

No I'm not protecting any firm, I trying to protect TDO.

If someone anon says that a firm is run by a bunch of thugs and crooks, it's not the Mr Anon that has to face the consequences.

However if Mr Wharfie say that TDO is run by a bunch of thugs and crooks, then TDO has an avenue to go down.

This is NOT a free advertising medium. For us to read topics, answer questions and put out ideas takes TIME. Unless you are completely working-class, you will understand that TIME has VALUE.

On Radio 4 they are even talking about TIME POVERTY. Hmmm, maybe I should take notice. Night Night ;)

Radio 4, blimey that's a bit highbrow for me. I must be working class.

If this was advertising then I've probably ruined a perfect plan by posting a picture of our empirierous leader in a badly fitting suit.

Alex has to protect the forum for the sake of free speech. He's not being 'touchy', if it wasn't for him the forum wouldn't be here. He can't let it turn into a sounding board for anonymous trolls to spew their rubbish.

Takes me back to the days of CB radio. Ah, I remember how it was for helping poor marooned motorists, for getting help in emergencies, for giving friendly advice to others on traffic jams. And then I remember how it turned into a slagging match, who had the biggest boots, who spouted the most profanity and who was jamming who. It got pretty serious round my way, bricks through windows, cars set alight...

Personally I couldn't care less if Diplomat get free advertisement out of TDO. The fact that many other trade suppliers don't, is more fool them.

At least diplomat are prepared to front up, unlike some vehicle manufactures I can think of. :(

I think Alex is perfectly right to safeguard the site by knocking out any unattributed personal attacks. But we all know who it is anyway, don't we?

If you say that anyone with a product in the taxi world shouldn't come on the site because it may be attributed by some as advertising, then the site would be the poorer for it.

And, if, one didn't continually bitch about something, then there wouldn't be so many others retaliating either.

Three posts from Diplomat staff and not one saw fit to answer my question.

Are you the company known as Diplomat data despatch systems Ltd?

Is that a difficult question to answer?

Andy,
come come they have been out and out advertising, and just like they did on taxiandprivatehireforums lobbying to get anyone with a contrary view out.

Alex is far from right he has in fact, changed the whole rules, so you cannot say anything about diplomat

the silver shilling I think its called we have been sold down the river

but the time will come, Andy when they will crap on you too.
