I am currently still trying to build up my cab company and need some info if anyone can help?

Put simply, when I took over firm it was all logged on paper so we have upgraded to logging jobs on spreadsheets on computer which works fine.

I have been looking into upgrading to booking dispatch software but due to the fact the the company currently has 5 drivers the cost of the systems are putting me off etc

I have had a leaflet from cabmaster about setting up a pay as you go system which has got me thinking that if I was able to start at the bottom and get a computer booking software without dataheads using voice dispatch and build up system from there which is the best to go for?

I have been told most cab companies are using autocab but have been told its very expensive and the same goes for cordic?

Anyone got any idea as to where I should start or should I stay as I am until I reach 20 drivers etc?

I really want to get callback as so many people think it is standard so would like a system that would be able to do this. I have thought about using a mobile but dont think this is any good as the receptionists might forget to call the customers!

Any thoughts on where to start for the cheapest and most relieble system to start?

I would think carefully about what you actually want it to do a lot of this software is all singing and dancing and based around the requirements of large fleet operators I have been on mercury for 15 years but make use of only a fraction of its capabilities and am considering a cheaper option but most software is a rental agreement which means you are paying a lot of money out each month so if you don't need all singing and dancing there are cheap sytems on the market which you can buy outright

The problem with mercury 2 operating with PDA's or dataheads is what Nidge refers to you will probably find that mercury 2 is NOT being demonstrated only the earlier version but as the earlier posts alluded to the Coventry show is the place to have a good look at what is available

This is a copy of a post on here about excel

I laughed at one of the Excel vvankers the other week when he came out with that, I replied with, Richard Moore the owner of Excel and his father Harold Moore who is a Director of Excel stole over £2million pounds from ex miners setting up a Taxi Company back in the 90's, the Taxi Company went bust but they walked away with a few hundred thousand pounds in their Sky rockets.

I also told him that the so called Mercury Mobile booking system was stolen from Diplomat after Stuart Harding gave Richard Moore a leg up onto the ladder.

Back in 2002 Richard Moore was given some sales space by Stuart Harding at The Donnington Taxi show selling Sat Navs on Diplomats stand. Richard Moore repaid Stewart by stabbing him in the back and stealing his Diplomat Navigator codes and renaming it Mercury Mobile with the help of a guy called Mike Scott.

I have been in touch with Bill at Datamaster as I remembered I had an old demo disc of there booking software and have to admit that he has been very helpful so will be looking at the system when I get my old laptop up and running etc.

What are other peoples opinions on this booking software?

Am mainly looking for a basic system that can do ringback and text back and one that does not give the bank manager a heart attack!

This gives you a list of Exhibitors at the Show which is at the end of the month. Of course, all your Expenses, on such a trip, would be Tax Deductible, so keep all your documentation.

http://www.phtm.co.uk/_includes/pdf/Exhibitor_%20list-2012.pdf

I'm afraid that I'm used to the big Catering Exhibitions so I'm not that impressed but it should be worth a visit none the less.

You could, of course, Google any likely looking Operators, from the list, and start the conversation before you meet them, face to face..

I can't see the point investing in a dispatch system when you only have 5 drivers.

It would be better to invest in buying another company to increase your fleet.

Hasnt someone from the wrexham area posed this question before?

I'd go for the Auriga package....the full business with the additional maintenance agreement. :D
