Anyone know a good reliable base station with manual squelch control that isnt a mobile in a box?

High Band 167/172Mhz.

No talk-through.

Or a PMR supplier that has local service and support arrangements in the Essex area?

Hi
You will not get any sort of proper base stations that are not mobiles in a sort of box.

If you want something you can listen to with the squelch defeated then you coudl buy a Tait TM2000 ot TM8000. One of the buttons can be programmed that when you press the button the squelch will open and when you press the button again if will close.

As for other base stations I dont know of any with squelch defeat built in.

regards

Hi Andy
I supply and install the TSF2000 base stations. I am a Team Simoco supplier and have supplied/installed 10 of these bases stations in the past few months with another 3 on back order just now.

They are good but you will have to use a desk control box like a M81 or DRC etc.

You could also buy the old Simoco PRF10 series base station if you want.

The TSF2000 will support a lot of the data systems if you every want to use it. Also I have a few in as remote repeater stations (Yes even for taxi companies does away with landlines very good value for money).

But you dont really have squelch defeat thats the problem.

Hmmm. Just thinking of local service, when the base sods up on a Saturday night.

Whats the answer? Have two base stations through an M81 or something?

Hi Andy

Well if the base sation is runing locally I would suggest a TSF2025 with a M81 but have a standard mobile radio wired under your desk with an A/B antenna switch box so that if need be you could easily and quickly change over to it.

As for service, Team Simoco have a special deal where you can send the base station back for repair (turn round 5 working days) and its a fixed price repair.

Hi Radioman,

Yup. That sounds like the best answer.
