My "no loss of no claim bonus" windscreen repair is tied in with Autoglass. WHY?
1) Autoglass: "We will come and repair your screen on Saturday between 1 and 5pm."
2) Autoglass: "Just calling to confirm your screen appointment for Monday at 5pm." Me: "You said Saturday" Them: "No we didn't"
3) Monday 12.30pm Autoglass van pulls up. Guy jumps out and says "I'll not be doing this they've given me the wrong glass, I'll call the office" He jumped in the van and drove off.
4) I call my insurers and tell them how poor Autoglass are. "Everyone says that" says my insurer. They give me a local number and the local company came round and fixed my windscreen.
Why do insurers tie us in to Autoglass who are blatantly rubbish?

They don't actually tie you to any one repairer. They have contract with certain business partners which cuts down on the paperwork. You are always free to use your preferred repairer subject to cost approval.

They're franchised out to franchisees.
