Old car Mondeo TDci insurance group = 22
Brand new car Auris hybrid insurance group = 7

So why have my premiums gone UP by £600 p/a ??  (plus another £250 for 3 years GAP)

The explanation given was that if a new car is written off they'd have to pay out more than on an older vehicle, hence a higher premium for new cars.
And apparantly the insurance grouping has no bearing when it comes to taxis - the premiums based solely on the vehicles value.

Words fail me, absolute fecking robbing barstools.

On a lighter note I've gone from 39mpg in the Mondy to 67mpg in the Auris, which aint bad considering the manufacturer says the max is 79mpg. :D

Bend down and assume the position, spread your cheeks and let them enter you.

yeah but be honest (I speak as a ex-Mondeo 130PS owner), the Mondy was a beast really....you wont get that big kick at 1200rpm from the Toyota

Ive flitted between new and older cars many times and never been walloped like that, I think I'd be for getting rid of your Insurance broker if that's the best they can do.

As for Gap Insurance, I reckon it's worth it..ya never know just what's around the next corner.

Looks like an admin error, the GAP insurance is £250 for THREE years and it looks like they've charged me £250 PER year and added it onto the existing policy (which has gone down). However the bloke dealing with its now on holiday so won't be sorted to next week.

In the meantime I shall be phoning for some new quotes which no doubt they'll be able to match, surprise surprise.
