Quick question

Is Radio Equipment usually covered in event or Fire/Theft etc

Also, if there is no mention of excluding Radio Equipment in the Policy/Policy Schedule etc, is the insurer not tied to paying out>

I would guess if you are insured as a taxi/PH, then you should be covered for any loss.

I know in my manor you would be covered 100%.

Having a bit of a heated debate with my base about this.

I'm insured via the base with AXA - my car was found burnt out after an electrical problem last night and the base are adament that NO insurer covers Radio equipment and want me to stump up £100 for the radio and £350 for the data head (you can guess my reply)

I was under the assumption that if I'm insured FULLY COMPREHENSIVE - it means just that (unless my policy or schedule had any exclusions)

Well, back in tomorrow and a phone call to AXA direct I think!

I was trying to find the relevant documentation earlier on, but I'm sure that I've noticed on previous policies of mine that communications equipment is excluded, but of course it probably depends on the individual policy.

But to be honest I've never really paid much attention, because I work the ranks thus it's irrelevant, and I don't normally read the small print anyway and merely go for the cheapest quote and assume that it'll never happen to you


But it's surely not your nice shiny Mondeo that caught fire Charlie?

Car started having charging problems on Friday - dim lights, battery light staying on etc

So I assumed the alternator went, but I have my doubts now - looks like wiring possibly.

Just need to sort some insurance issues now - the chancer who deals with insurance at our base is seriously heading for a slap with some of the bull he is spouting.

Like "Your weekly premium will now go up immediatly since you have had a claim"

I don't think so sad sacks!

Or "Is it worth claiming for an old W reg Mondeo when you take into account the excess and premium increase"

Really defensive about my car, spent a lot of time on it keeping it in top order, then this happens, which is further fueled by someone who I can only assume can see imaginary buttons up the back of my head!

Well good luck, because it sounds like a bit of a minefield.

By the way, I've never really heard much good said about insurance policies done through base offices, and of course there's obviously some evidence of the problems that can arise in this case, particularly as regards communication.

If drivers have a choice then they should perhaps seriously consider dealing with insurers direct rather than going through a base office, unless of course there's an obvious advantage to the base policy such as saving a huge wodge.

But perhaps others have experience of the ins and outs of this?

Geez, feel for you buddy, as long as you were not hurt, is the main thing, but I really do feel for ya thats not nice thing to happen to anyone, make sure you calim for lost earnings too, I take it Ins co have furnished you with a hired car?

Im pretty sure that with Westminster PH policies radio and communication equipment is not covered but is covered with Westminster public hire policy i will try to check this later, seems daft to me tho
