Taxi Driver Online

Last year my insurance for a Private Hire Taxi was £1300. This year because I had my 80th birthday in March the renewal quotation is £4500!!!. I've had quotes of less than £1000 to insure my car as a car. So where does the extra £3500 come from? Is it just blatant profiteering?
Does anyone know of an insurance Company or Broker where over 80's can get insurance at a fair price? Your advice/information will be gratefully received

That is an incredible increase, and I suspect it would send many of that age out of the trade for good. Which is a shame.

Have you been to a broker that specialises in taxi insurance?

The other options are to try and get on a fleet insurance if you are on a firm, or maybe drive someone else's car as a named driver.

But £90 a week is far far far too much.
