I have a 4 year old E7 LWB (114k miles)which is normally rented, and I drive a 3 year old Merc Vito Long Body(140k miles), I have the E7 back for a couple of weeks so Ive been driving it again, these 2 cabs are completely different animals, the Merc is a plodder, masses of low down grunt - 2.2l 111CDI (110bhp), a heavy bus which in comparison to driving the E7 is like driving a tank, the E7 drives more like a car, and has surprised me how quick it is, but you need to keep the revs up or its gutless.
Problems with these vehicles thus far:-
E7 ....DMFs, 1st replaced at 20k just had a 2nd flywheel with clutch this time...ARB bushes, had complete ARB at app 25k miles, just had the conversion kit fitted, both front window regulators, drivers seat collapsed and after much complaining that the correct seat wasnt in it anyway managed (with the help of taxifix in liverpool) to get another one fitted....but again the foam is collapsing on the door side of the squab, rear shocks (fitted by me) it had just been in to Peugeot dealer for recall work, and a free health check, never spotted leaking shock. EGR valve replaced and about a year later that one gave up the ghost, now blanked off.....rattly rear sliding doors....which can be cured by wrapping tape round the bottom locating pin - very hit and miss though, also there is a plate inside the door which is "glued" to the inside of the door skin - over time the glue/sealant dries and it sounds like the doors falling apart, easy fix though.
Mercedes Vito.....where do I start!! A/C PUMP pulley replaced with only a few thou miles up, drivers seat base x 2, drivers seat back x 1, A/C condenser, rear wash/wipe motor, rear seat belt receiver, 2nd and 3rd gear synchro, ARB bushes x 2, front shocks, drivers window regulator, into limp mode - faulty wire SOMEWHERE, electric window switch (front), drivers door lock - courtesy light and lights on alarm not working, taxi locks short circuit, and Imm sure a few other little things.
Warranties on both vehicles....Peugeot not worth a carrot, as much use as a chocolate fireguard......shocks? 2,000miles sir. Clutch/flywheel 20,000miles sir....and "bring it in and leave it with us sir".
Mercedes....complete opposite, all those items listed, under warranty, they even replaced brake and clustch pedal rubbers "under warranty".....local dealer operates a pick up and delivery service - evenings if required, they will effect a get you back on the road repair if they dont have the spare sparts - assuming its safe to do so.
Would I buy another of either, well Penso do not do the Vito as a long body version anymore so I have no idea what Ill replace it with when the time comes. The Cab Direct M8 is not a patch on the Penso version, which is a shame because the E7 in my opinion is the best conversion out there of that particular bunch, but its let down by some weaknesses in the base vehicle.

Dont know whether that answers anyones questions, but these are my ponderings on the 2 vehicles!

Easy fix for the seats, 2 pies less a day, :P   as for the rest forget your a rally driver

the delivery millage was 12 and i am certain it'l keep up with that 8 year old mondy no problem, you have to drive a 1.6 tdi to realise how much power it actually has

compared to the tx1,tx2,metro the E7 is fast, smooth and economical. As previously stated the only trouble is when something goes wrong it's usually something to do with electrical(emisions)etc, which apparently according to mechanics I've spoken to is the same with most modern vehicles. As with modern life generally when the shop assistants machine goes down she/he can't do a fekking thing!.
