What if the temp drops and the driver wants to keep himself and the cab warm, while sitting on a rank, how is this achieved.
I would have thought a diesel engine would be more fuel efficient, even for just charging the batteries. and as one London driver said if running on just batteries how does the public hear it coming, fitting a small diesel engine would overcome both problems
What about a full LPG, or hydrogen version, without the batteries, with a possible range of around 500 miles per tank, that would be more feasible

£1 charge = 50 miles, then it goes onto petrol to ONLY generate leccy, not drive the wheels, next step would be to convert it to LPG

In a series hybrid car, the engine is electrically linked to the electric motors. This means that when the juice runs out of the battery, the engine kicks in and takes over - you don't have to wait for the battery to charge up.

dump the battery pack in favour of a hydrogen fuel cell or small gas turbine, we have the technology so why stick with battery technology?

A small diesel generator runs at about 1ltr per hour and no-one seems to know if the fuel need be duty rated, if not red is only 80p a ltr (or something) as for gas, we burn off methane from landfill sites cos no-one wants it...

why are the DIY builders so open about it but the big manufacturers arent?

Rover built gas turbine cars back in the 60's (jet 1) ... super efficient engines that run on well, gas....

and around the world cars are being built that shame Fords (etc) efforts

Posh word for deleted.

Maybe he shouldn't have posted the stuff he did in the first place. :-$

But when admin put back the subject header anyone goggling these vehicles will see that they have plenty to hide, and don't like being held to account.

It is going to have a petrol wankel engine fitted to charge the batteries , the problem with the wankel engine is they wear down the liners and give very poor fuel economy
I would have thought a diesel engine would be more economical and could hold a much better charging system

sounded promising, purpose built cab rather than a van conversion, not full electric but hybrid /petrol engine, exactly what we need.... than I hear "wankel" engine... if Mazda couldn't get it right with the RX7 RX8 models.. I doubt the Metro cab people can.... go on RX8 forum and soon you'll find why you can pick up decent looking sports car for next to nothing... [edited by admin] engine... hope I'm wrong cos the cab itself looked nice...
