I had an interesting conversation with the mechanics at the main agents in Liverpool.... it seems that they have had to replace quite a few engines at around 120,000 miles.... as they said themselves in was not due to not being serviced correctly... a fast engine and a very weak bottom end....

Has it something to do with the oil filter that was mentioned on here somewhere :?:

Yes Skippy, I posted the problem about Oil filters last year. All the filters have been replaced. The problem still exists, engines are still running dry on Oil, even though plenty of oil is in the sump. Several of the London forums suggest it is oil ports getting blocked and they are recommending going back to flushing oil at each service.

Don't they do that anyway? :?

My garage always flushes the engine oil with that solution you pour in the filler cap. It's a couple of quid more, but you know all the old oil is out.

Hi guys. Long time away but I thought I would post an update on my TX4 10 plate cab.
Well its now 50,000 miles old and its still running perfectly. No breakdowns to report but the steering box has sprung a leak and is being replaced under warranty. I have had a slight problem with the intercom which was traced to a wire in the drivers door.Nothing else to report.

Also my 60 plate cab is on around 48,000 and that has not had a single fault to report. I just wish they did more mpg !

Another update. The 10 plate was changed for a 12 plate last year. That had a fault with the rear axel which was replaced under warranty but it was unaffected by the recent steering box problem.
Its now on 29k miles with real no problems to report.

The 60 plate is approaching 80k miles and had not put a foot wrong other than tyres and bulbs. An 06 TX2 I have has gone past 250,000 miles without major problems although I think an engine refresh later this year is on the cards.

Its all about regular servicing ;)

Flushing oil is spirit based, hence it strips all oil off every component, trouble is that oil is what protects an engine at the moment of starting up from cold, so after the refill with oil all metal is bare.....not good

I was taught to used flushing oil when the engine was going to be stripped and new bearings/shells/rings were going in
