Anyone running the above.
I am thinking of changing my skoda for one in estaite form, any problems with them and whats the MPG like.
I understand they dont have a conventional hand break can anyone confirm this

I had that same Engine in an Octavia saloon, It was bullet proof and very Economical on fuel..55mpg.

If there was any niggle with the Engine it was that it used about 1/4ltr of oil a week...god knows where it went, it didn't drip out or create blue smoke..it just used oil.

Dunno if the Passats a heavier car or not..but it was a punchy and fast engine...the more miles it did the better it ran.

We had 2 passat 1.9tdi estates, both were fleet cars and had many drivers, both were retired after 4 years service, not cost much to keep on the road and both had done over 300k miles, no where near as good MPG as our Skoda's, but nice powerful cars and loads of room.

Yes there are electronic hand brakes, easy to operate once you have drove it for a day, just press your foot brake, press the handbrake button and the hand brake was released. Simple.

TBH, We replaced them with Octavias, cheaper to run and maintain.
