Post subject:  meter in radio in GOOD TO GO
well got the superb today took it over to digitax in clydebank and the guy was great took the binnacle off and other bits and bobs and fitted all the compnents and all working fine but i didn't watch would give me nightmares :lol: . just to go through its test tomorrow and i'l be on the road and to all you people who say the 1.6 tdi is not powerfull enough and blowing turbos are talking rubbish the car pulls great and half throttle gets it moving no bother salesman said they only had 2 1.6 tdi's come in with a bad turbo's due to a faulty part but except from that said there doing well

Exactly how many miles has it done?

Mine has done 70 miles but my brother has a 1.6 TDI superb too and he has done 17,000 miles and says his engine is going fine pulls great sounds quiet and a there are a few other 1.6 TDI superbs up here and was talking to them yesterday one had 58,000 on and the guy said he serviced the car at the preset intervals and didn't drive
it hard and said the car I's doing fine

Good luck to you , I hope it serves you well. Most turbo problems arise from oil feed issues (i.e. low on oil, using the wrong oil, cheap oil,being heavy footed while turbo is still cold and turning the engine off too soon while the turbo is hot) if you avoid these things I'm sure it will serve you well.

whats the legal side of servicing now, did the law change on servicing to preserve warranties?

I had a Citroen Relay LWB and only took it Citroen once (£180 for oil+filter) then it went to my HGV guys who always did a good job and stamped the book, and Citroen stood by the warranty

I am given to understand that the warranty on servicing and parts will be honoured so long as the garage is VAT registered, and the parts are of BSI standard, (basically the equivalent) of the make of vehicle.

As far as I know it hasn't changed. I have mine serviced at my local garage. I only use millers oil always have done. Like you, the main dealer (peugeot) have always honoured the warranty.

Skoda and VW don't allow that, to keep up with the warranty you need to take it to a Skoda or a VW garage.

Skoda and VW are as subject to EU laws as anyone else though

they may not LIKE it but its the law

EU Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation (EU) 461/2010 (MVBER)
The motor vehicle sector benefits from its own block exemption or ‘safe harbour’ from competition rules for agreements for the distribution and servicing of motor vehicles in the EU where it can be shown that there are efficiency benefits for business and consumers alike.

A revised MVBER ((EU) 461/2010) and accompanying guidelines came into force on 1 June 2010 and apply to repair and maintenance services only. The MVBER is valid until 2023 though the guidelines can be reviewed at anytime by the European Commission.

Sorry Grandad. (and others !) I typed an explanation with it but for some reason it didn't copy. This piece of E.U legislation is called Block Exemption Regulation. It basically stops businesses from practices that are deemed unfair and creates competition.
In other words, you can have your car/cab serviced and repaired wherever you want without nullifying the vehicles warranty. There are conditions in place though, you can only use quality parts (original equipment or equivalent) and the mechanic has to have formal qualifications. Having to be VAT registered is also one.(although this is debatable)
Probably the only piece of E.U legislation that makes sense (at least it did until I got my hands on it !)

It was going to be cancelled 2 years ago but i think the likes of the RAC fought to keep it
