Hi all, need to purchase a replacement vehicle very soon. Been looking at some 3 year old mondeos 2.0 tdci which seem very good value. Would be very interested to hear from anyone who runs one as a taxi, with anu thoughts you may have about them. Many thanks. |

That said when the warranty goes the car does, so not too sure about cars more than 3 years old. But I love the room in the car and the boot size, IMO the perfect saloon taxi/PH. I think there are problems with the bits that keep the emissions low, but other than that you should be ok. |

Many thanks for your replies. To avoid the psa engines would mean trying to find a 1 8. Anyone have experience of running a 1.8, thought they were old technology and maybe under powered. |

Steer clear of Mondeo's full stop. I've driven them for years and they're useless, when they start to go wrong they're a money pit. |

Superb is a defo consideration mine is just over a year old and still receives praise from passengers, get a 2.0 tdi as the 1.6 is more for the Octavia or rapid, I have a 1.6 does me but an enthusiastic would want the 140-170 grunt of the 2 litre. |

I run a 2008 1.8 Mk4 estate as a hack and its perfect! Keep it serviced, whatch your belt changes (the 1.8 has a belt in the sump that runs in oil that's classed as a non service item - but needs changing with cambelt every 125k), passengers love the size, its all day comfortable driving, nice spec ~ my Edge has bluetooth, cruise, heated front screen, dark tints, massive boot and averages 45-48mpg round town... Only down side is it'll never win a 0-60 race.. |
