I bought a brand new peugeot expert taxi (2 weeks old) its the 2.0 16v hdi version with air con etc nice motor pays the bills etc...

Now its been pretty cold recently down here so the heating has generally been on most of the time for the customers... other day i dropped someone off and it was too hot in the motor so i flicked the heater controls over to the cold setting and waited and waited, 10 minutes later the heater was still pumping out hot air

tryed the air con etc and couldnt get cold air coming through no matter what I tryed, so rang the local dealer and booked it in with them they said they would let me know what the problem was within a couple of hours...bearing in mind that every minute the vehicle is off the road its costing me money.

6 hours later i had to ring them and they said they would need the motor for 2-3 days obviously by now im fuming payed 22k for a motor which i cant control the climate in and said to them that i would contact customer care and can you meanwhile put it back together so that i can go out to work

Customer care: we will get back to you in two days
Anyway even more [edited by admin] as they got your money now and dont give a stuff as far as im concerned.

So went to the dealers to pick my vehicle up when i got in the vehicle i notice that the heater cotrols had been butchered they looked like something out of a 5 year old vehicle not 2 week old, they even damaged part of the taxi conversion interior and their attitude was oh just get the part and we will pay for it..

Rang customer care again to update them with the nice condition of my vehicle: oh yes someone will contact you either today or tommorow..

What i basically want to know has any one come across this problem on a peugeot expert and what it was that needed rectifying and how long?

Im willing to do the work myself rather than lose 3 days money which i cant afford

And what are my legal standing regarding having a vehicle which as far as im concerned isnt fit for its purpose especially when it comes to different customers wanting different heat/cool settings..

Sorry to have been so long winded but any helpful suggestion appreciated

thanks

Anything you buy has to be fit for the purpose you buy it for, especially when you have paid £22,000 for it.

You are more than entitled to claim loss of earnings, and to expect the motor to come back in a fit state. Maybe you should ask for 12 free servicing to make up for all this p***ing around.

I would ring and insist on speaking to the boss, better still go to their reception and kick up a stink in front of other customers.

If you get no joy then ring Puegeot UK and/or e-mail the managing director with a link to this thread.

Mines a Merc and if this happened to mine it would be the "duo valve" on the heater system under the bonnet not working, jammed or k nackered, if it was on mine the replacing time would be around an hour

You seem quite concened that you need to re adjust your heater settings for each and every passenger, rollocks I say, mine stay where they are at my comfort settings.

I'm thinking of buying another motor, probably an Octavia, as I've had so much bother with my mini bus..........are these unlimited milage warranties any good or are they just a gimmick?
Patons are quoting about £500 for an extended unlimited milage warranty, is it a waste of cash?? Since april 05 i've spent nearly 4K on my bus including a new flywheel 'n clutch, 2 new drive shafts, rebuilt turbo, these 3 problems alone were nearly a grand each to rectify. Even if a warranty would have covered 1 or 2 of these problems i would still have been better off. Anybody any opinions on this???

How do they work then? Is it like this?
Skoda offer a warranty say 2 years unlimited milage on a brand new motor. The extended warranty.......is it a skoda warranty, an extension of the original 2 years, or is it warrantied thru a 3rd party?
Say the skoda warranty expires after 2 years, no probs with the car, all the service terms and conditions have been met. In the 3rd year, the gearbox blows with 300K miles on the car. Will the warranty cover it? Then in the 4th year the engine blows, say on 400K miles, will the warranty still stand?
I know this post sounds a bit naive, but i'm trying to get an angle on all the scenarios before I start talking to the suppliers, and they start giving me the patter.

I was speaking to someone at the 'Taxi Centre' recently asking much the same.

He said that the two year warrenty covers everything, cept brake pads and tyres. The extended warrenty just covers engines and gearboxes.

What most people do is to get the local dealer to go over the motor with a fine tooth combe just before the two year warrenty runs out.

Best bet for you is to ring them. I always find them to be sound.

Apart from the clutch, that could be a TX2.

Nice to see all vehicles used for taxis are crap.

Suffice to say that the E7,s have major problems,I have a funny feeling that with the upsurge of sales for this vehicle, that they must be using inferior bits.
This should not be happening especially the price we are paying for this vehicle.
Also Cab Direct is not taking any back in part exchange,as they have too many second hand ones in stock eusasmiles.zip

Is it any wonder they have so many second hand ones people are taking them back and dumping them, : :-({|= ](*,) as for the TX I or 2 I would not pay more than 10k for a new one, Skoda are good, but you can still get a 3 year unlimited warranty with Seat same car different shape, Hyundai do a 5 year unlimited, but don't touch the Trajet, #-o and Kia do 3 years.
I have the Kia Caren's its done 55k in 1 year and the only thing thats gone wrong so far is the screen wash pump it jammed due to small bits getting into the washer bottle probably from the watering cans at the garage when toping it up, they replaced it in 10 Min's
