Avoid avoid avoid. 60,000 miles and they'll start dropping to bits.

thanks for your reply. I have seen them in scotland being used and also in france and holland. To be honest, my taxi is a passat and i'm very happy with it and would buy another. My wife wants an espace as a family car but i know they have a less than favourable reputation. Just thought i would ask on here to get any feedback from someone who knows them well from taxi ownership.

I had one of the original 1.9 tdi ones M reg in 150,000 miles it had a new gearbox well a secondhand one, the only other problem was the heater wiring under the bonnet returned 42 mpg average, even used it to tow the caravan never knew it was there

thanks for that. I think the older 1.9 engine was probably very good. We've been looking at the mk3, and they have the newer 2.2 dci engine which do have some issues. Why have diesel engines become more problematic now compared with older ones. Me and my dad ran a peugeot 505 taxi years which did 450k miles with no probs.

whats the arrangement for getting to the rear row of seats?

my tourneo had a middle row seat which had a tipping back, but the LA wouldnt allow a citroen (C8?) where a seat had to fold up and tip forward

each LA makes it up as they go along
