i bought a brand new tx11 in november 2005, and i admit i was a proud owner until my 20.000 mile service. after the service i cleaned my vehicle to begin my shift, and when lifting the carpets in the passengers compartment, i discovered a 3 inch crack in the floor on the inner wheel-arch.
i returned to my dealer several weeks later where they drilled the crack then mig welded it, and could not explain to me why this occured. bottom line is folks, the crack is now 5 inch long and the opposite side is cracking too ! lti vehicles sent a technician from coventry to meet me in glasgow to inspect the cab and i was told that the factory wish to take my vehicle back and dismantle it to see where they have gone wrong so this never happens again in future production.
they are saying it is put together wrong as the body is sitting on the chassis, even with the correct number of spacers applied,
my question folks is..has anyone heard of this in england ?
the workshop manager in glasgow says " in 20 yrs of working with these cabs i have never seen this in scotland " i am now thinking of legal action as lti are not willing to take back the cab and settle the finance accordingly. so beware lads ! they quote your warranty even regarding unique matters like this ! my cab is now sitting at 42000 miles and the floor is cracking and creasing dailly, and becoming unfit for the purpose it was built.
i have informed them that i do not have any faith in either them or they cab, and that iam not willing to accept another repair.
any suggestions folks ??

ps. the workshop manger also said that he has never had one vehicle in scotland recalled to factory, any ideas regarding england folks ?

cheers.

Go strait to a solicitor and get him on the case, you want a brand new cab fully fitted with your equipment, and licenced, and full loss of earnings, and his costs, and don't accept anything less.
the fact LTI want your cab means there asses are tweaking, and you could end up with a brand new tx4 :D :D :D

If they have offered to fix the problem, then it will effect any action you take if you don't let them.

Of course you are due loss of earnings if they don't give you a replacement vehicle. Any chance you can get some pics of the cracks (TX ones please) so we can put them up on here.

Also the LTDA in London are not big fans of LTI, so they would love to print them in their mag.

I suppose everybody has there own way of dealing with situations like this, I have heard of vehicles having cracks in them and at the place you're referring to , but they are older vehicles,

If I was you, I would approach the dealer and give him to the end of this month to replace the vehicle, I would simply say that I feel the vehicle is unsafe, and obviously due to the fact that it is purposely built for carrying passengers you feel it is your obligation to point out nationally to the taxi trade how unsafe this vehicle really is, that is why you have contacted, the National Taxi magazine's and have invited them to photograph the fact that the seams are splitting , and also a full article of what has taken place up to now.
